We've all been there...


You go on vacation, kids get sick, life happens and your routine has been blown to $@(#.


While it's happening you're frustrated, but you think to yourself "It's fine... I'll get back at it tomorrow." Then you don't get started again tomorrow, or the day after, and before you know it two weeks have gone by and you have yet to re-start your routine. Today I want to discuss a strategy you can use when one of the above happens.


Let's say you have a routine of going to the gym at 3:00 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. You go on vacation for a week, get back on Sunday and you're overwhelmed with all of the laundry and chores you need to do around the house. This bleeds into Monday, and by the time 3:00 rolls around, there's no chance you have time to get your workout in.


There are times like this where it simply isn't realistic.


Here's a strategy you can try next time this happens...


At your scheduled time (3:00 in this case), do something that resembles your workout. It could be a quick walk, a 10 minute bodyweight workout, or even a set of 20 jumping jacks. It doesn't matter what you do, what matters is that you do SOMETHING to maintain the routine you worked for so long to build. You'll be surprised how powerful this is.


Now when Wednesday comes around, your brain knows that at 3:00 it' still time for your workout. Had you done nothing on Monday, you would have been re-programming your brain to do something else rather than workout at 3:00.

This is a simple tip, but very very effective.
