Who doesn't love Thanksgiving?

Of course there's all of the food and family get-togethers, but one of the things I love most is that I always find myself with a little extra time to reflect on this last year and everything I am thankful for. Nothing super structured, just time to think. This always puts me in a great mindset and sets the tone for the holiday season.

As much as I love the holiday season, there's something sneaky that happens this time of year and most people don't have time to realize it. With all of the stuff we have going on- family gatherings, work parties, chili cook-offs, etc., it's safe to say we're all going to fall off our routine to some degree.

Ever realize how hard it is to re-start your routine after being gone on vacation? It's always harder than you think it will be. The same is true for the holiday season, so it's best to be prepared for it.

Here are two things you can do to avoid letting the holiday season completely throw you off track.

1. Schedule your first workout back in the gym in advance, and find a workout partner to hold each other accountable. Even if you're not 100% sure you can make it, get it in the schedule, and know that you're likely going to have to force yourself to get back in the gym.

2. If you cannot make it in the gym on certain days during the holidays, do something active during your typical workout time. It doesn't matter if it is a 5 minute walk or some body squats. Do SOMETHING during your workout time. Not only does this keep you active, it helps you keep your routine going and makes it much easier to re-start your routine once things calm down.

As we head into Thanksgiving, I'd love to hear what you're all thankful for. Respond to this email with a quick note on what you're thankful for, and hopefully that moment of gratitude will set the tone for a great week ahead!

Have a great week!

-Steve
