Feeling Stiff from Sitting? Try This Simple Fix!

Let’s be real—most of us spend way too much time sitting these days. Whether it’s at a desk, in the car, or on the couch, all that sitting can lead to tightness, bad posture, and stiffness that just won’t quit.

That’s where the Standing T-Spine Extension comes in. This simple move can help undo some of the damage caused by all that sitting, and the best part? All you need is a wall.

Why the T-Spine Matters

Your thoracic spine (aka your upper back) takes a beating when you sit for long periods. Over time, it starts to round forward, messing with your posture and making it harder to do simple things like reach overhead. That stiffness can lead to discomfort and even impact how you move in your day-to-day life.

How to Do the Standing T-Spine Extension

Here’s how to get started:

  1. Set Up: Stand a few feet from a wall, facing it.
  2. Hand Placement: Put your hands on the wall, a little wider than shoulder-width apart.
  3. Lean In: Angle your body at about 30 degrees, forming a diagonal line.
  4. Hips Back: Push your hips back as your chest lowers toward the wall.
  5. Stay Steady: Keep your hands in place on the wall—don’t let them move.
  6. Feel the Stretch: Let your upper back and chest open up as you move through the motion.
  7. Reset: Slowly return to the starting position.
  8. Repeat: Aim for about 10 smooth, controlled reps.

Why This Exercise Works

The Standing T-Spine Extension is a game-changer for improving mobility and posture. By working on your shoulder mobility and upper back flexibility, you’ll find it easier to move, reach, and just feel better overall.

And here’s the thing—this isn’t about spending hours on mobility. It’s about adding small, effective movements into your routine to keep your body feeling good and moving well.

So, if you’ve been feeling tight or stiff, give this a shot. It’s quick, easy, and could make a big difference in how you feel.

Let me know if you try it out, and have a great day!
