The Magic You’re Looking For Is In the Work You’re Avoiding
You’ve probably heard this before: the magic you’re looking for is in the work you’re avoiding.
And honestly, it’s true.
When it comes to achieving goals, most of us avoid the things we don’t like doing. The problem is, those are usually the things that move the needle forward the most. Annoying, right?
We fill our days with “productive” tasks. We cross off 48 things from our to-do list… except the one thing that really matters. At the end of the day, we feel busy, but deep down, we know we didn’t actually make progress.
Here’s the truth: you don’t have to do more. You can actually do less every day if you’re willing to prioritize the one thing you’d rather avoid. That’s where the growth is hiding.
Think about fitness.
The magic isn’t in adding another supplement, it’s in showing up consistently.
The magic isn’t in doing 10 different workouts, it’s in pushing yourself on the one that challenges you most.
The magic isn’t in doing only the fun stuff, it’s in tackling the things that feel uncomfortable, the ones you’d rather skip.
It’s the same in life, too. Sometimes it’s the hard conversation you don’t want to have. Sometimes it’s the financial habit you don’t want to face. Sometimes it’s that workout you’re tempted to put off until tomorrow.
So here’s my challenge for you:
Look at your list today and ask yourself, what’s the one thing I don’t want to do? Then do that first.
It won’t always be fun. It might even feel uncomfortable. But it will move you forward. And when you stack those small wins over time, that’s when you start to see real change.
