Do Something Today Your Future Self Will Thank You For
The other day, I was talking with one of our members who almost skipped her workout. It had been a long, stressful week, and she told me, “I didn’t want to come in, but I reminded myself how good I always feel after. And sure enough, I left feeling like a different person.”
That’s the power of doing something today that your future self will thank you for.
Most of us already know what those things are. It might be choosing a workout over the couch, water over soda, or even a 10-minute walk instead of another scroll through Instagram. None of these things feel like game-changers in the moment, but that’s the point. Small choices, stacked consistently over time, lead to big transformation.
We tend to overestimate what we can do in the short term and underestimate what we can do in the long term. The truth is, you don’t need a perfect plan. You just need to stop delaying the simple, meaningful actions that move you forward.
Think about it: if you made one small decision every day that your future self would thank you for, where would you be a year from now? Stronger, healthier, and more confident, guaranteed.
Here’s a practical way to keep yourself on track:
Before you make a choice, ask yourself, “Will my future self thank me for this?”
If the answer is yes, do it. If the answer is no, it’s probably not worth it.
This one question simplifies everything. It takes the guesswork out of what’s “right” or “wrong” and shifts your perspective toward the bigger picture.
No Perfect Time
Another trap we fall into is waiting for the “perfect” time. Monday, the new year, when life slows down, when stress finally goes away. The truth is, there’s never going to be a perfect time. The only time you actually have is today.
And the smallest action today can be the one that shifts everything.
So here’s my challenge to you: don’t wait for motivation, don’t wait for the perfect plan, and don’t wait for the perfect timing. Just make one small choice today that your future self will thank you for.
Because tomorrow always rewards the work you do today.
